Westminster trip for opener

Levett Leopards play their first ever Division Two game on Saturday when they travel to Capital City Academy to face Westminster Warriors, tip-off 6.30pm.
The Big Cats will face a Warriors side that contains former players Tosin Oyelese and Lawrence Brown – who both won the Division One title with Leopards in 2015 – along with Justin Hitchman.
Warriors finished bottom of Division One last season, and having twice been reprieved from relegation on two occasions in the last seven years, they finally made the drop alongside the Big Cats.
The teams met three times last season, with all the games being won by the visiting side as Leopards won the series 2-1. The first meeting came in the National Trophy with Mike Martin leading the way with 20 points as the Big Cats won 69-64. We returned to Capital City Academy six weeks later and a balanced scoring effort saw the visitors romp to a 90-57 victory. The return game at Harlow proved to be a seminal moment in the season as Warriors collected their first win of the season, 64-58, a result that proved key as Leopards suffered their first relegation in club history.
The Big Cats go into the game on the back of a record-equaling 73-point victory against Anglia Ruskin but coach Thomas Baker has his sights firmly set on making a winning start to their league campaign.
“It was a professional performance from our team today” he said.”We stuck to our game-plan and executed it very well. The energy and intensity we had throughout was excellent and it was a confidence builder ahead of our first league game next week against Westminster.
“Promotion remains our main aim, and we need to make a good start on Saturday.”
Westminster have had a similar start to the season to Leopards, splitting their Patrons Cup games and recording a big National Cup victory with a 112-67 win against London United.
