Team USA Select to return to Brentwood

As part of Leopards’ commitment to playing at the Brentwood Centre next season, the Big Cats have already lined up an exciting pre-season friendly against Team USA Select.
The touring American side will visit the Brentwood Centre on Sunday September 1, tip-off 4pm, giving Leopards’ fans the chance to see their team in action for the first time in the 2019/20 campaign.
“It’s great to welcome back Sean [Kilmartin] and his team back to Brentwood” said general manager Dave Ryan. “They always give us a great game and it’s a good chance to get an early look at our team.”
The Big Cats have been regular opponents for the Americans over the years, playing them at Brentwood, Oaklands College, Capital City Academy and Crystal Palace as well as training games in east London.
The USA side is made up of former college players looking to gain a professional contract in Europe and they participated in this season’s Essex Classic, beating Leopards 68-59 on the way to the final where they lost to London Lions.
Last season saw the Big Cats defeat the touring side’s White team 86-71 at Oaklands College before losing 71-64 to their Red side two days later at the Brentwood Centre.
A big crowd at the Brentwood Centre saw Leopards edged out 81-77 in 2016 while Killmartin’s side also visited in September 2015 as the Big Cats recorded a 76-67 victory. The sides also met in a closed-door scrimmage game just before the start of that season with Leopards winning a thriller 84-83.
