Magic and Rockets tests for Leopards

Leopards face their fifth back-to-back weekend in the space of six weeks as they travel to Manchester Magic before hosting Reading Rockets at Essex Sports Arena on Sunday (2pm).
It will be a quick return against Magic as the Big Cats intensified Manchester’s relegation fears with an 83-75 victory at the Brentwood Centre last week.
That result left Magic four wins adrift at the bottom of the table with a 1-16 record and desperately need to start winning if they are to retain their top flight status and maintain their record of having never been relegated, but will welcome back Josh Houghton who missed last weekend’s games due to suspension. The teams also met in the National Cup, with Leopards running out 87-76 winners

The Big Cats certainly face a tough weekend as they are likely to get back to Colchester just 12 hours before they return to action against the Rockets.

But Baker’s side will certainly fancy their chances against Reading having already beaten three times this season.

A 90-83 pre-season friendly win in Berkshire was followed up by an 85-69 demolition in the Trophy at Colchester and a 101-90 road win in the league.

The Rockets have suffered heavy defeats against Loughborough Riders in the Trophy and Leicester Warriors in the league recently and are now one spot ahead of seventh placed Leopards with nine wins from 15 games.
