Lee looks back on season

Leopards’ centre Lee Hodges admitted that Saturday’s play-off loss at Worthing Thunder had been tough to take:
“Going to Worthing under manned was always going to be tough,” he said. “They are a top team and even at full strength we narrowly lost to them at home. That being said it was great to see Rory [Winter] put in a good performance to finish out the season.”
Hodges rejoined the Big Cats for a third spell at the start of the season, and he knows that campaign has been a rollercoaster of a ride: “The season has had ups and downs” he said.
“When we were at full strength we had a spell where we were very tough to play against. Sadly for us Luke [Mascall-Wright] then got a deal to go to Italy which he deserved but obviously for us that’s a big loss.
“After that we won a few games but struggled to play at the level we did when we beat Loughborough at home. We signed Darrel [Bethune] who was massive for us but sadly he couldn’t finish out the season for personal reasons.
“The team did its best to continue to compete and I think at times we did that but we were probably one player short of being able to consistently put in good performances.
“Who knows what kind of season we could have had if we had a full team from day 1 and the same team throughout the year.”
