Crunch time on Saturday

It’s crunch time at Oaklands College on Saturday evening as Leopards host Barking Abbey, tip-off 6.30pm.
While the permutations for the losing team are a little more complex, it’s simple for the winner of the game – they’ll play Division One basketball next season. Leopards go into the game in 11th place with a 5-18 record while Barking are 12th with four wins from 21 games.
When the teams met in East London at the start of 2020 Barking let a 28-point lead slip but held on for an 82-74 victory despite seeing coach James Vear ejected late in the game.
It’s been a tough season for a young Abbey side, with all four of their victories coming against the three other sides who are battling to avoid relegation, and they went out of the National Cup at the first hurdle with an 87-77 home loss against Division Two side East London All Stars.
Please note that this game tips off at the later time of 6.30pm due to the Lambing festival, and you are advised to allow a few extra minutes to find a parking spot.
Leopards head into the game on a three-game winning streak and have had one of the side named as the Division One player-of-the-week on consecutive weekends. Elvisi Dusha won it after a fine performance in the win at Reading before Orlan Jackman collected it this week. The England international was in scintillating form for Thomas Baker’s team in both games, finishing with a 37 point, 12 rebound double-double in 40 minutes, adding five assists and four steals in the 99-96 win at Liverpool before chalking up a 20 point, 20 rebound, 10 assist triple double the following day as Nottingham Hoods were beaten 127-95 at Oaklands.
