Leopards logoEssex & Herts Leopards are delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with A-Z Basketball as we look to develop junior basketball in our area.
The Big Cats will link up with Albert Ziwa and his company to bring top quality coaching to the Herts and Essex area.
“Working with A-Z is a great step for us as a club to help us use basketball to engage with fans and schools for positive change” said Leopards’ coach Thomas Baker. “Sport is great in helping bring communities together, having a social and cultural impact as well as developing social capital and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.

“Basketball can play a massive part in shaping the future for children within Essex and Herts, and this partnership helps Leopards work with an already successful grassroots service provider to help future generations.
“It is something that I am passionate about as a coach and it is something that the club is passionate about also, for us this is no brainer as we look to create a sustainable future for all involved in the club and the community. We will be releasing further information in how this is going to work in the coming months so stay tuned for more information.”
Ziwa is happy to be working with the Big Cats: “We are grateful and excited to be the main grassroots service provider and to develop Essex and Herts Leopards community basketball programme even further” he said.
“Leopards, under Thomas Baker and Dave Ryan, did a fantastic job last season with the men’s programme in NBL D1 and they are already showing how much they want to build on that by securing partnerships with Oaklands and now with launching a community basketball programme
“This means A-Z Basketball will be able to positively engage, support and develop basketball at the grassroot levels in Schools, community and local clubs in Hertfordshire and Essex. A-Z Basketball have had a positive impact in the past 12 months in the North and East Herts area, delivering in Primary and Secondary Schools – providing CPD for teachers, curriculum and extra -curriculum delivery, creating strong and fluid schools – club link pathway for all involved and also holistically developing communities through basketball activities.”
“It’s great to be working with A-Z” said Leopards’ general manager Dave Ryan. “I’ve seen Albert coaching and I’m very impressed with the work he does. We’re looking forward to developing basketball throughout the extended area we now call home.”
