Baker ready for the big tip off

Leopards’ coach Thomas Baker is excited about the new season, as his team prepare for a baptism of fire with a long weekend on the road.
“It has been a positive pre-season, we have learnt a lot about ourselves” after winning 90-83 at Reading Rockets.
“We will continue to build on our culture that we have set up to now. We will also look at ways we can improve from each practice and each game. As I have mentioned previously the guys have been very open to the things that we have thrown at them during this pre-season phase, this will be important as we move through the year.
“We have discussed the types of behaviours we want to demonstrate every time we step on the floor and every time we are together.”
The Big Cats have a tough couple of days with a trip to Uxbridge on Saturday before facing a long journey to the midlands for a 2pm start the following afternoon.
“Looking to this weekend where we start our season in the Trophy and Cup against Thames Valley Cavaliers and Team Derby Spartans respectively” said Baker.
“It would be great to have a cup run but we are most focussed on being competitive in the league. I’m not one who likes to put outcomes on things and predict where we will finish. I would rather say that as a team we are locked in to the journey and are already discussing the things we can control in our performance.
“We understand that the season is going to be a long one and we must remain focussed throughout. There are a lot of tools in place to help us analyse our performance regularly against standards and indicators we have set, but this will grow and evolve as we get better throughout the year.”
