Baker ready for double header

As his side prepare for a tough double header weekend, Leopards’ coach Thomas Baker is ready for two important games.
The Big Cats host Reading Rockets at Oaklands on Saturday night (5.45pm) before travelling to Sussex Bears in the last 16 of the National Cup the following afternoon.
“Double header actions come round again and we are focussed on the task ahead” said Baker. “We continue to search for answers in how we can string performances together and fight through adversity.
“We know Reading will be looking to bounce back from their loss last week against league leaders Solent so we must be ready for a reaction.
“The guys have been working tirelessly this week on continuing to improve and it is good to see their commitment to the journey.
“We want to keep our cup run going also and facing a tough Sussex Bears is what stands in our way and the next round. It is going to be an exciting weekend for us and I am looking forward to it.”
While Leopards have played Reading more than any other side in their history, Bears will be something of a trip into the unknown for Baker’s side.
The two sides did meet during Leopards’ season in Division Two in 2017/18 with Bears winning 97-79 in Sussex before the Big Cats gained revenge with an 88-76 victory at Brentwood.
Gary Smith’s side started the season with a victory against East London All-Stars but have suffered four straight close losses since to sit joint seventh in the ten-team Division Two South.
It will be Bears’ third straight home game in the competition having beaten Division Two North opposition Bristol Flyers II 80-67 and Bristol Hurricanes 86-72.
