Levett Leopards’ new coach Thomas Baker was pleased with his side’s performance despite a heart breaking 68-66 loss against Leicester.
“The guys were excellent in terms of their effort at the weekend” said the Big Cats’ play-caller following his first game with the club.
“It was exactly the level of commitment and investment we needed and I feel like we deserved something from the game.
“Having led the rebounding battle for the most part, to then it lose it by 11 down the stretch hurt us. We took some good shots throughout unfortunately they didn’t drop for us, but we must look to continue to share the ball and play together to create similar opportunities for us to score.
“Keeping a team like Leicester to 30 points at half-time was exactly the right mentality and performance we needed, we just have to continue to tighten up defensively across the next thee games.
“Going into the game against Leicester we knew we needed to limit their main scorers, which I think we did, but to their credit others stepped up to take them over the line.”
